About 105 Gibson Centre

Situated at 105 Gibson Drive in Markham, 105 Gibson Centre is a 47,000-square-feet Christian centre. Our mission is to serve the locals and those in need, and to share with them the compassion and hope of Jesus. We provide relevant and diversified social services, such as youth and older adults programs, community education, food bank, cultural and recreational activities. 105 Gibson Centre also partners with various local organizations to provide comprehensive tailor-made services to the community. 105 Gibson Centre opened in Oct 2013 and runs for around 80 hours a week.  We have captured 50,000 visits through rental and programs and 7,000 individuals have registered in our programs or services.

We are looking for the following summer job positions immediately:

 

Applicant criteria

The candidate must be:

  • between age 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
  • a Canadian Citizen / PR or on refugee protection status and legally entitled to work.

 

Positions

Sport Program co-ordinator – sport and recreation

  • $15 per hour, 30 hours per week, total of 8 weeks
  • Discuss with the supervisor and the related personnel on the design and execution of fitness/sports initiatives
  • Organize and execute basketball and sports camps and activities with the Sport Coordinator
  • Manage indoor or outdoor fitness activities
  • Organize and film healthy lifestyle and fitness related videos
  • Connect with athletes with youth for encouragement and fitness/sports tips
  • Form and organize volunteer teams to run fitness/sports activities

 

Financing officer – fundraising

  • $15 per hour, 30 hours per week, total of 8 weeks
  • Help with our community fundraising campaigns, assist in developing fundraising letters; research potential donors; submit and prepare proposals.
  • Participate in developing relationships with individuals, corporations and foundations and write introductory donor letters and follow-up donor’s correspondence.

 

Social Media community Manager 

  • $15 per hour, 30 hours per week, total of 8 weeks
  • Discuss with the supervisor on the Youth Services Instagram content
  • Manage weekly Youth Services Instagram’s design and content
  • Research on communication strategy for reaching out to the community youth
  • Create communication platforms with local youth and young adults
  • Form and lead youth volunteer teams for the purpose of connection between Youth Services and youth, e.g. video recording

 

Reception Clerk 

  • $15 per hour, 30 hours per week, total of 8 weeks
  • Client facing support work
  • Will assist clients by phone or email to aid in registration of programs and classes
  • Be able to answer questions and recommend solutions to resolve issues and complaints
  • Assist the Reception coordinator in regular administrative tasks such as data entry and filing
  • Able to help facilitate and support classes, programs and events
  • Regularly briefs the Reception coordinator for any issues encountered
  • Supports the daily operation for the centre

 

Distance education program co-ordinator 

  • $15 per hour, 35 hours per week, total of 8 weeks
  • Help to organize and coordinate online classes, programs, and meetings
  • Communicate with clients regarding online class logins and setup
  • Hosting and managing the online classes
  • Collect and track statical data for classes
  • Collaborating with Program Coordinator to fill any needs and proactively seeks ways to improve online classes as a whole
  • Assist with A/V needs of the classes

 

Older Adults Program – Day Camp leader

  • $15 per hour, 35 hours per week, total of 8 weeks
  • Senior Summer Camp
    • Planning activities / contents
    • Schedule / time table
    • Invite speakers/activities leaders
    • Recruit volunteers
    • Preparing / purchasing needed materials / resources
    • Promotion for the event
  • Outings / Outdoor activities\s
    • Planning for outing / outdoor activities – places to go
    • Preparing transportation means
    • Recruit volunteers
    • Promotion for the events
  • Caring for the seniors, connect with the members via
    • Visitation
    • Telephone caring
    • Physical care
    • Referral to specialist as needed
