About 105 Gibson Centre

Situated at 105 Gibson Drive in Markham, 105 Gibson Centre is a 47,000-square-feet Christian centre. Our mission is to serve the locals and those in need, and to share with them the compassion and hope of Jesus. We provide diversified social services, such as youth programs, older adults wellness community education, career counseling, food bank, cultural and recreational activities. 105 Gibson Centre also partners with various local organizations to provide comprehensive tailor-made services to the residents in the community and surrounding neighbourhoods. 105 Gibson Centre opened in Oct 2013 is now seven years old. Running for around 80 hours a week, we have captured 50,000 visits through rental and programs and some 7,000 individuals have registered to our programs or services. We believe that we have delivered relevant services to the ethnically diverse neighbourhoods in the catchment area.

Children’s Summer Day Camp Coordinator

 

Wage

$ 15.00 / hr (maximum 140 hours)

June 6, 2022 – August 15, 2022

 

Position Description

We are looking for a Coordinator to facilitate in the planning and execution of a 2-week Children’s Summer Camp for low-income families in the surrounding communities of the 105Gibson Centre (South Markham and North Scarborough).

 

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Working with and reporting directly to supervisor (Community Needs Manager) to develop, promote, and execute a 2-week summer camp at the end of July 2022
  • Working closely and cooperatively with all program leaders and support staff
  • Supervision and training of high school volunteers
  • Promoting team unity and leadership development
  • Demonstrating clear and healthy communication
  • Planning will begin early June and into mid-July when the camp begins

 

Skills and Requirements:

  • Be in agreement with the Mission and Vision Statement of the Centre
  • Display a passion for building relationships and working with neighbourhood children of various ages, backgrounds, and abilities
  • Ability to positively influence, motivate and instruct children relationally, emotionally and spiritually
  • A team player with outstanding behavioural management skills and the ability to relate to peers and children
  • Very good at critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Basic administrative and management skills – coordinator must be organized
  • Current CPR Level C and First Aid certificate are highly recommended
  • A Vulnerable Sector Police Check is required
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or protected persons under the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and legally entitled to work and study in Canada
  • Minimum of 18 years of age and under the age of 30
