The “Friendly Visiting Services” organized by 105 Gibson Centre desires to promote social participation and inclusion of Older Adults in the local Chinese community who might be encountering social isolation or having trouble accessing community resources. Our goal is to provide holistic care for Older Adults through personalized one-on-one visits and create a sense of community for the elderly.
FRIENDLY VISIT PROGRAM
Volunteer Friendly Visit Service
Although the service is free and runs by volunteers, 105 Gibson maintains high professionalism. All volunteers receive relevant professional training and periodical coaching to ensure they are competent and maintain a high quality of service.
In addition to conversing with the Older Adults in the community, the “Friendly Visiting Services” volunteers will also engage in activities, including reading, facilitating cognitive stimulation games, solving Chinese puzzles, exercising and fitness, and exploring common interests together.
Volunteer services include home visits, online connections and telephone greetings.
Are you eligible?
You must be at least 55 years old and live in the Markham and Scarborough areas for in-person home visits. Other visiting services have no restrictions.
