My wife and I immigrated to Toronto many years ago. Our children are now grownup and we have been retired for over 10 years. We live in east Scarborough, where public transportation is inconvenient and we do not drive. There is a cultural centre nearby, but we have not joined any classes as the fees are expensive at almost $100 per course. Besides taking a walk in the neighbourhood, we spend most of our time at home. Last summer, we joined the Abundant Life Program’s 4-day senior camp and we loved it very much. This year, we joined the Spring Passion Senior Summer Camp every Tuesday and Thursday in July and August. The program is rich and exuberant with fitness sessions, lectures and crafts. They also provided delicious lunches and transportation services. The volunteers were dedicated, friendly and kind and we enjoyed every aspect of the camp. We also met a group of people with similar background and have become good friends. We long to see our friends at the Centre every week and we find our life full and happy!
Thank you to 105 Gibson Centre’s staff and volunteers. Their devotion and caring to the elderly have made us feel loved and respected. We have never experienced this kind of love in other places. We wonder where does this love comes from? We are deeply touched!
The senior summer camp has ended but we hope to join the Abundant Life Program again, where we can continue the friendship and live an enriched life!
